polarity exercises

There have been a few books published specifically on the polarity exercises for self-care. And some videos by teachers also out there very good. But is there a comprehensive resource? Are all of them basically covered in Vitality Building or are there other practices coming from other source or evolutions? Is there an IPEA resource cataloging all of the movements? Are there one or two you feel are best placed for introductory sessions with people just getting to understand the value of polarity for self-care?

There is a massive book privately published of all the Polarity exercises. Give me a few minutes and I will get you the details.

Thanks, is this John Francis' book? Is that the most comprehensive?

It is called "Polarity Self Help Yoga" and it is by John Francis a UK Polarity Practitioner who has being working with Polarity yoga since 1984. It is large format (A4) and is 520 pages! It weighs in at 3lbs (1.8 kg) so the print version is expensive to ship. The book is expensive at 50 pounds sterling $70 us. I believe he does sell it as a downloadable pdf. Email him at: [email protected]

Yes John's book is the most comprehensive out there.

Feldenkrais awareness through movement exercises have un-acknowledged energetic effect. I use them alongside the classic Polarity yoga exercises.

The pelvic clock in John Chitty's book Energy Exercises is a classic Feldenkrais awareness through movement sequence. However, there are many more. Some even look like self-administered polarity treatment. Feldenkrais hip/shoulder differentiation movement is exactly the same as Dr Stone's hip treatment. I detail this in my upcoming video training on treating shoulder problems

Wow that sounds awesome, is it similar to somatic yoga exercises that work on hip and shoulder simultaneously? I don't have any experience with Feldenkrais.

As I am not familiar with somatic yoga exercises I cannot say! However, if somatic yoga is based in anyway on Thomas Hanna's Somatic education then it is Feldenkrais work.

YES! It is.

Thomas Hanna trained with Moshe Feldenkrais in the first US training that Moshe offered. Then went his own way but the work is fundamentally the same.

Most Feldenkrais and Hanna Somatic practitioners don't focus on the energy as they are thinking physically in terms of the nervous system, but the energy effect is profound if you tune into that. Moshe actually invited Pierre Pannetier (Dr Stone';s successor) come to one of his trainings and teach a Polarity session to the students. For years Mosehe hated the idea of energy work but seemed to come around to it in his final years.
